Technology Title
Using Raptor RFID Systems to enhance Robotics and Automation
Tech Focus Area
Robotics and Automation
Abstract
Problem Statement:
The Department of Defense (DoD) needs a faster, more reliable method for conducting full warehouse inventories across diverse storage environments. Traditional barcode methods are labor-intensive, require line-of-sight, and are prone to human error. Meanwhile, Real-Time Location Systems (RTLS) are expensive, infrastructure-heavy, and often unreliable in RF-dense warehouse environments. Additionally, The DoD desires to improve manpower short falls and improve receipt and issuing of assets. Current processes create backlogs during heavy ordering times. The DoD requires inventory vigilance to improve readiness and desires to be compliant with DoD regulations for RFID processing.
Description of the Innovative Solution:
RaptorRFID – Lowers acquisition and implementation cost (faster ROI) over traditional RTLS and delivers a next-generation RFID inventory automation system built specifically for DoD environments that automates large-scale inventory scans without the need for fixed infrastructure. The patented solution includes two core products:
- RaptorArray: A mobile, cart-based system with ruggedized RFID hardware and multi-antenna configurations that can scan entire warehouse aisles with no need for fixed infrastructure, mapping, or complex setup.
- RaptorHandheld: A portable RFID reader equipped with “Finder Mode,” which uses geiger-style feedback to help personnel quickly locate gains and misplaced assets in both warehouse and field conditions.

These tools are supported by RaptorRFID’s software suite:
- RaptorScan handles scanning and data ingestion on both laptops and handheld devices
- RaptorVision provides inventory reconciliation and heat map-based analysis.
The system integrates easily with existing Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) through CSV file exchange, enabling full-cycle inventory reconciliation and real-time identification of gains, losses, and misplaced items.
Benefits to the DoD:
- 100% Inventory Accuracy using our patent pending software and process
- Boosted Productivity: Streamline workflows and save time and labor hours
- No IT Infrastructure Required (lowers acquisition/implementation costs)
- Enhanced Data Visibility: Gain real-time insights into stock levels
- Compliance: Equipment is TAA compliant, MIL-STD, CAC equipped, IP65 certified. The solution can be air-gapped for secure environments
- Secure, scalable Enterprise support for enterprise-wide operations using cloud storage (e.g., OneDrive)
Innovation Challenges:
- Reducing infrastructure and labor burden while maintaining real-time accuracy
- Operating in RF-hostile environments with stacked pallet racks and metal shelving
- Achieving compatibility with existing DoD systems and regulations
Technical Maturity / Demonstration Results:
The RaptorRFID suite is in pilot phase and the, RaptorRFID’s team has successfully implemented similar technologies in previous DoD environments. Be Ready with the RaptorArray and companion RaptorHandheld solutions!
