Technology Title

SHIPCOM AI Predictive Sustainment Operating System (PSOS)

Tech Focus Area

CBM+

Abstract

Problem Statement: The Department of War faces growing sustainment pressure from aging weapon systems, fragmented maintenance and engineering data, supply-chain constraints, and limited workforce capacity. Maintenance, logistics, engineering, sensor, and operational data often remain isolated across systems, limiting the ability to anticipate failures, synchronize parts and labor, and make timely readiness decisions. The result is avoidable downtime, longer repair cycles, and increased readiness risk.

Description of Innovation Solution: Shipcom’s Predictive Sustainment Operating System (PSOS) creates a unified sustainment environment that connects maintenance, engineering, logistics, sensor, and operational data through a semantic data fabric. AI and machine-learning services analyze equipment condition, maintenance history, usage, environmental factors, and supply data to identify emerging risks, support remaining-useful-life analysis, prioritize maintenance, and anticipate material demand. PSOS combines predictive and condition-based maintenance with automated sustainment workflows, operational digital twins, and readiness dashboards to connect asset health, maintenance execution, workforce capacity, and material availability in one decision environment.

Benefits to DoW: PSOS is designed to reduce unscheduled maintenance and repair-cycle time, improve maintenance productivity and material responsiveness, and increase the quality and speed of readiness decisions. Its modular architecture supports aviation depots, shipyards, maintenance centers, operational units, logistics organizations, and program offices, enabling cross-Service application while integrating with existing systems rather than requiring wholesale replacement.

Innovation Challenges: Defense sustainment environments contain heterogeneous legacy systems, inconsistent data structures, varying data quality, and mission-specific workflows. PSOS addresses these barriers through semantic interoperability, configurable integrations, and modular deployment, allowing organizations to connect existing data sources and introduce predictive capabilities incrementally.

Technical Maturity / Demonstration Results: PSOS is not a single unproven concept; it integrates capabilities Shipcom has developed and demonstrated across Air Force and Navy sustainment efforts, including AI data-fabric, predictive-maintenance, maintenance-process automation, airworthiness-compliance automation, test-planning, process effectiveness management system (PEMS)-AI, logistics, asset-tracking, and machine-health-monitoring applications. These efforts provide the technical foundation for scaling PSOS as an integrated predictive sustainment capability across the defense maintenance enterprise.
