CTMA Project #: 140883
Problem: AMUET has been successfully demonstrated as a Proof of Concept in Phase I and Phase II on multiple C130 electrical subsystems at Warner Robins AFB including Intercom, Fuel Quantity Sensor, and Antiskid Braking. An extended O-level test at Hurlburt AFB has been approved as Phase III on their more troublesome C130 electrical subsystems. Additionally, a separate project with NAVSEA has shown strong promise on a naval ship. NAVAIR does not have a wireless test set capable of detecting a 50ns intermittent as defined in MIL-PRF-32516.
Benefit: Phase IV is expected to demonstrate AMUET’s expanded capability to detect intermittent electrical faults to the smallest degree will further substantiate that AMUET can further reduce customer dissatisfaction caused by aircraft schedules being disrupted by unexpected and unexplained electrical issues. This phase is of importance to DoD as it will demonstrate AMUET’s expanded No Fault Found capability to the new MIL-PRF standard as well as test AMUET capability beyond the Air Force to NAVAIR and on a different aircraft.
Solution/Approach: The Navy is seeking solutions to combat issues with on-aircraft intermittent wiring issues. Currently there are no MIL-PRF-32516 certified intermittent testers with wireless capability with the Navy’s testing inventory. This project will certify the AMUET tester is compliant with the intent of MIL-PRF-32516 and demonstrate the wireless capability of the AMUET technology on selected F/A-18 critical safety system aircraft wiring harnesses.
