CTMA Project #: 140972
Problem: The IT landscape consisting of hundreds of materially-relevant logistics, supply, maintenance, personnel, real property, contracts and financial systems presents significant inefficiencies, cyber vulnerabilities, and impediments to financial statement auditability. The business processes supporting sustainment operations have not necessarily been designed or improved to keep up with cyber and audit requirements, or to leverage emerging technologies to increase efficiency and effectiveness. Data across the maintenance, sustainment, and financial landscape does not conform to an overall standard, resulting in lack of visibility of data across the business sustainment enterprise which leads to slower and impeded decision-making abilities.
Benefit: Developing and implementing strategies, roadmaps, and technologies to resolve these issues within a large, global, complex enterprise such as the U.S. Navy will provide blueprints to the public and American businesses of how they can implement similar sustainment transformations to improve their competitiveness. These solutions would be easily transferrable to commercial industry, providing significant positive economic impact on customers.
Solution/Approach: This initiative will develop and execute a strategic transformation strategy to address auditability and cybersecurity requirements to sustain the Navy’s logistics, sustainment, and financial management systems, as well as business processes, IT, and data.
