CTMA Project #: 140949
Problem: Due to the complexity of today’s systems and the digital models used to describe these systems, NAVAIR has focused on stabilizing their Model Based Definition platform with a secure Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) platform. During Phase I of the Manufacturing Demonstration Tool-set for Maintenance & Sustainment Support the team was able to integrate manufacturing and Engineering by connecting machines directly to the infrastructure at each Fleet Readiness Center (FRC). Individual Data models, connections to machines and initial integrations to corporate systems have been established and are demonstrable. Phase II of this project created a central PLM repository at NAVAIR HQ. NAVAIR has a need to extract pertinent information from multiple data bases into one environment to have the ability to create pre-arranged and ad-hoc reporting.
Benefit: The enabling PLM tools underpinning this system enable effective configuration management of technical, manufacturing and service data sets as well as the improved management of both manual and automated workflows. This results in improved accuracy, quality, and reduction in re-work along with associated wasted time, cost, and resource consumption.
Solution/Approach: This project will add Program Management functionality and capabilities for the Quality Management domain extracting data from multiple existing sources and bring that into the IDRN to create reports and analytics test and demonstrate Close Loop Quality Management system. IDRN will serve as the Digital Thread and interface platform for other disparate corporate systems utilizing a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) integration product/strategy. The system will operate within the DoD network and provide access from consumers from the NMCI network.
