CTMA Project #: 142049
Problem: Companies in industries such as the transportation, airline and mobility have continued to look towards Vehicle Health Management Systems (VHMS) and Condition Based Maintenance (CBM)/Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) to keep vehicles operating dependably and to avoid costly unplanned maintenance. The addition of network connectivity brings with it significant new cybersecurity concerns for VHMS.
Benefit: The security technology used by the SE MSD can be transferred to commercial and automotive and transportation/mobility systems to provide the same high level of cybersecurity protection for their At-Vehicle/At-Platform portable maintenance support devices, providing privacy and security protections to end users.
Solution/Approach: Using the Army’s Abrams Family of Vehicle as a surrogate to industry, Maintenance Support Devices (MSD) will be further advanced to increase capabilities and incorporate the security enhancements for the next generation of MSD to facilitate technology transition across a fleet of vehicles and/or weapons systems. Phase II will build upon the successes of the initial work, expand the CBM capabilities and incorporate the security enhancements for the next generation of MSD.
