The US Army is partnering with industry and academia on a multiphase CTMA initiative to advance commercial technologies and processes to more effectively and efficiently identify hazardous chemicals contained in parts and components found in military vehicles and other equipment. Phase II is designed to deliver a common approach and toolset to qualify and validate the testing of safer alternative metal fasteners to replace hazardous heavy metal fasteners across a fleet of military vehicles. It will focus on formalizing the processes to update product data and other engineering, maintenance, and supply chain documents required to sustain the vehicle fleet across the lifecycle.
