The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to advance the state of development, qualification and testing of advanced materials and manufacturing processes to improve the performance and lifecycle of structures and parts required for applications in extreme environments.
This initiative will develop new design analysis tools and processes to assess emerging advanced material development and manufacturing techniques required to enhance key structures and components. Specific objectives include determining new methods integrating experimental and theoretical data via machine learning and data science methods related to advancing transparent ceramics and ceramic matrix composites and reducing the developmental cycle time and costs.
