Technology Showcase
July 15, 2024

In collaboration with the Eastern North Carolina (ENC) Tech Bridge, Fleet Readiness Center East (FRCE), and Craven County Economic Development, National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS) is hosting a Technology Showcase at the Riverfront Convention Center of Craven County July 15-18 in New Bern, North Carolina.

This technology showcase will be held in conjunction with the debut of the ENC Tech Bridge off-base facility. The ENC Tech Bridge, through a partnership with FRCE and Craven County, facilitates strategic connections to accelerate creativity and innovation that deliver capability, capacity, and readiness to the Navy and Marine Corps.

FRCE – North Carolina’s largest aviation maintenance, repair, overhaul, and technical services provider – helps supply Sailors and Marines with innovative solutions to complex problems and supports future growth by connecting brains to planes.

Industry and academia partners are invited to share potential innovations in technology that can support the goal of the Tech Bridge initiative, which is to rapidly deliver innovative capabilities to service members across the globe. Engineers, artisans, and leadership from the Navy and Marine Corps will be in attendance and are eager to view the demonstration of next generation technologies that may relate to their maintenance challenges.

Along with the technology showcase happening at the Riverfront Convention Center, this event features a unique opportunity for select companies to demonstrate their technologies at the ENC Tech Bridge facility during its debut event. Once event registration has closed, representatives from the ENC Tech Bridge team will hand-select companies for this opportunity, based on the technology and how it pertains to the Tech Bridge.

How to get the most out of your participation at an NCMS Technology Showcase

Each exhibitor’s space will be visited by individuals representing Government, Industry, and Academia. Please have a prepared “elevator” description of your technology and how it will benefit maintenance and sustainment efforts. This prepared speech should engage your audience quickly. Be prepared to demonstrate your technology or offer a short presentation on how your technology works. Be sure that you have deliverables that speak to the benefits of your technology, and if possible, create handouts or other marketing collateral.

Actionable Items

  • Make sure your team has an elevator speech. Be prepared to describe your technology solution/service and its benefits in 30 seconds or less.
  • Demo, demo, demo! Demonstrations draw attention at the event.
  • Bring plenty of collateral!
  • Keep your exhibit space staffed. Traffic is unpredictable and intermittent, so plan to have a representative at your table during all show hours.
  • Refrain from packing up or leaving before the event ends. An empty tabletop reflects poorly upon your company/organization.
  • Online Directory: As a part of exhibitor registration, you are required to submit company and technical abstracts. To make a lasting impact, be sure to complete this package by submitting your logo and quad chart to eventsupport@ncms.org.

Best Practices for Submission of Exhibitor Materials

NCMS will provide attendees with an online Exhibitor Directory accessible to anyone with internet access.

Note that our government partners have requested that Quad Charts be submitted by all exhibitors. Those Charts will be the main place to profile your technology solutions. Even if you have previously submitted a quad chart, you must submit a new one with the Fillable Quad Chart Template linked below.

To make the best possible use of the online space for the directory, we ask that participating exhibitors follow these instructions:

  1. Submit a 150-word description of your technology solution.
  2. Submit a 100-word description of your organization.
  3. Download the pdf Fillable Quad Chart Template provided here, fill it out in Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat, and save it as a pdf with your company’s name in the file title.
    1. For Problem Statement, describe what problem the technology is meant to solve (app. 80 words maximum)
    2. For Solution Statement, describe the technology product or service (app. 80 words maximum)
    3. For Benefits Statement, describe the expected impact of the technology (app. 80 words maximum)
    4. For Graphics, insert 1 graphic saved as a jpg or png.

Quad Chart Explanation

Note: attempts to make the type smaller than 12 points so more text can fit in each quadrant will result in the submission being sent back. All quad charts must be uploaded with your exhibitor registration – see “Quad Chart Submission” section at the top of the righthand column.
