Project Announcement: Paint Respirator Improvements to Support Maintenance and Sustainment Activities

The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to improve the safety of painters and other maintainers in maintenance and sustainment environments by demonstrating a paint respirator and climate control device that will improve visibility for workers, prevent heat stroke, and allow greater versatility in what environments the technology can be used.

The selected technology will include full kits with helmets, breathing tubes, flow-control devices, and breathing airlines. This alternative respirator solution would be usable by both the artisans who prepare products for painting and the painters themselves.
