Project Announcement: Scalable Blockchain Security and Multi-Author Data Exchange – Phase III

The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on a multiphase CTMA initiative to develop a prototype that demonstrates web3 blockchain interoperability using an existing blockchain technology standard. The technology will need to allow for a “chain of chanins” to provide seamless data exchanges between blockchains using an open standard, and the capability for redundancy by utilizing other web3 blockchains for data transport and capability redundancy through a resilient, network fallback. The overall objective is to provide the ability for multiple blockchain networks to securely interoperate with each other.

Specific objectives for Phase III include:

  • Conduct a live secure mission data prototype demo on staging and smart contract P2P communication (data) exchange for commercial supported air mobility mission tasking orchestration activities
  • Prove the movement of commercial supported air mobility mission and usage data (communications) between the DOD systems representative instance and the industry partner’s systems using blockchain and smart contracting capability.
  • Prepare, track and assess a pilot program to conduct a successful collaborative demonstration.
  • Secure production transition validation and approach
