The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to use data analysis and modeling techniques prior to acquisition of a specific aircraft platform with specific capabilities to balance the up-front costs with projected aircraft availability and readiness levels in the future. Specific goals include the ability to:
- Evaluate and assess depot level maintenance options across capability, capacity, cost, risk, and strategic impact.
- Model the impact of investment across specific aircraft parts, sustainment, and maintenance processes to target program spending and achieve maximum ROI and aircraft availability. (Tier 1 Technology Implementation)
- Evaluate current and historical program data to provide key learnings and best practices to the new platform.
- Compress and de-risk program schedule to ensure timely launch of the new platform.
- Assess facilities’ requirements and evaluate military construction cost factors to reduce spending and increase speed of execution.
- Support development of acquisition strategy, negotiations, sourcing plans, including multiyear procurement planning.
