The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on a multiphase CTMA initiative to advance the development, availability, and manufacturability of state-of-the-art energy storage solutions to improve supercapacitors and other energy storage performance at a lower weight, size, and cost-point, using domestic sources. This initiative will leverage advanced analytical tools and processes to assess new advanced materials such as graphene so that supply chain and advanced manufacturing techniques will be strengthened in the US domestic supply chain.
Phase II will leverage information derived from Phase I and focus on strengthening advanced manufacturing techniques in the US domestic supply chain for improved weight and performance to benefit vehicle systems participating in domestic or overseas training. The technology implementation goal is to be at the Pre-Implementation tier at the end of this effort.
