The Military Power Sources Consortium (MPSC), a non-profit dedicated to sharing information and providing a unified voice to the DOD regarding issues and challenges for domestic military production, just announced the roll-out of their new Battery Maintenance Committee. This committee was established to focus specifically on the maintenance and sustainment of lithium-ion batteries.
Unlike older battery types, lithium-ion batteries require regular monitoring and specialized care both in use and during storage to ensure optimal performance and the longevity of the battery. Due to their high energy and efficiency, lithium-ion batteries are widely used by both commercial and military users and therefore, need to have long-lasting maintenance solutions.
The Battery Maintenance Committee will aim to identify and discuss key concerns related to battery maintenance, sustainment, and operations while identifying opportunities for strategic improvements. The first official meeting of this committee is scheduled for Wednesday, October 30, at 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT.
NCMS Member, Astrolabe-Analytics is the organizer for this newly formed Battery Maintenance Committee and will be joined by a variety of participants including DLA, NAVSEA, American Lithium Energy, Eskra Technical Products, Powerfilm Solar, and more.
