The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to demonstrate a reliable Reel-Out Reel-In (RORI) magazine test asset that can enable the recovery of radio frequency (RF) towed decoys. The overall goal is to demonstrate the development of improved microelectronics to create a more robust fiber optic cable that requires less maintenance.
The industry team will be expected to pursue both hardware and software modernization with approaches that employ:
- Advanced methods of analysis
- System enhancements
- Component design enhancements
- Lowering costs of decoy development
- Improved logistical processes
