The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to advance the state-of-the-art in advanced materials and innovative manufacturing processes to enhance the durability, reduce maintenance costs, and improve operational readiness of transparent armor for commercial and military applications. The goal is to analyze potential alternative materials and manufacturing and testing procedures to identify transparent armor solutions that have no delamination issues.

The industry team will be expected to have:

knowledge of advanced transparent materials and manufacturing and methods
ability to determine root causes of delamination
ability to develop potential remedies and material databases
