The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on a multiphase CTMA initiative to advance the state of the art in analysis, systems engineering and integration tools and processes needed to develop a new communication solution for a military vehicle driving simulator. The overall goal is to develop, integrate, and test a solution that will improve reliability and performance of, and reduce latency between, the simulator’s subsystems.
Phase II will leverage lessons learned and deliverables from the previous phase, demonstrate the manufacturing process for initial systems, and develop and finalize key maintenance, safety, and logistics documentation to support fielding of the systems.
Specific objectives include:
- Provide a streamlined, common approach to identify relevant hardware and software solutions, reducing the time and cost of delivering safe, reliable, and mission critical communication capabilities;
- Provide repeatable engineering processes and toolsets that result in more reliable integrated communication solutions that increase interoperability and reduce malfunctions and other maintenance issues;
- Ensure the final materiel solution allows for easier communications maintenance and sustainment through future drop-in part replacement and modular upgrades;
