The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on a multiphase CTMA initiative to demonstrate a more effective and efficient engineering and design approach to improve vehicle maintenance and sustainment, survivability, occupant protection, and reliability. The approach to be used, holistic vehicle survivability (HVS), utilizes modeling and simulation tools, coupled with advanced materials and manufacturing processes, which together results in superior protection, reduced weight, enhanced mission effectiveness, advanced modularity for growth, and improved maintenance and sustainment.
Phase III will build on the successes from earlier phases and focus on:
- Identifying gaps in existing counter-unmanned aircraft systems (C-UAS’s)
- Addressing evolving UAS threats
- Demonstrating and evaluating holistic C-UAS capabilities
