The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on a multiphase CTMA initiative to demonstrate how advanced concept hardware and associated products for a Composite Rigid-Wall Shelter (CRWS) Type A can integrate with other existing mobile shelter systems and provide performance improvements. The prototype shall incorporate composite structural and panel components that shall be capable of meeting military and commercial Electro-Magnetic Interference (EMI) shielding standards, Convention of Safe Containers (CSC) standards, and MIL-STD-461. The overarching objective is to demonstrate how this technology can be extended to a wide variety of mobile shelter solutions for the commercial industry and military services.
Phase II will build on Phase I results and integrate the Service Oriented Modeling Framework (SOMF)–Type B shelter with the SOMF–Type A to establish a double-wide EMI-compliant configuration. It will focus on system optimization, ensuring structural alignment, interoperability, and spatial efficiency.
