The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to advance the state of the art in advanced engineering and manufacturing tools and processes to streamline the conversion of aluminum parts from conventional to advanced manufacturing using original technical data packages (TDP)s.

The industry team will be expected to have expertise in metal AM certification processes, engineering technical data, engineering reports, manufacturing work instructions, materials data, and AM printers. They will be provided with TDPs for specific critical systems and components and desired product components. Their objective will be to conduct an analysis, develop designs, and manufacture prototype components.
