The US Department of War is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to advance the state of the art in the advanced manufacturing, SPI and supply chain technologies and processes to demonstrate how reliability methods can help produce better products on schedule, resulting in reduced costs and less need for maintenance. Using a specific model of ground vehicle as a surrogate, the project team will seek to rapidly identify manufacturing and supply chain risks stemming from critical electronics and mechanical components and determine the optimal mitigation plan.

Phase V will build on the successes of earlier phases and further mature and integrate these efforts to improve manufacturing readiness. The project team will apply lessons learned from prior demonstrations to refine production methods, address remaining manufacturing challenges, and evaluate opportunities to improve repeatability, quality, and efficiency.
