Technology Title
Accelerated Knowledge Transfer (AKT) Applications Enabling Optimum Maintenance Performance
Tech Focus Area
Enhanced Inspection
Abstract
Problem Statement: DoW maintainers perform work on complex systems using dense text and static line art that does not convey spatial complexity, kinematics, sequential precision and expert techniques needed in modern maintenance. Current sustainment processes often require weeks or months to deliver clear, actionable technical data. Traditional training media production is too slow and expensive. These shortfalls increase labor dependence and raise error risk among less-experienced maintainers, hindering achievement of expert level performance and operational readiness.

Description of the Innovation Solution: AKTOptimize multimedia applications simplify understanding of complex systems and maintenance procedures. The solution is a hardware-agnostic accelerated knowledge transfer (AKT) tool: maintenance videos and interactive 3D in one self-contained, offline HTML5 file showing what “right” looks like with expert level performance. Video captures validated technical data presented in bite-sized step by steps through optimized interface. Interactive 3D is developed from digital scans without CAD, so complex items can be animated when drawings are incomplete. Video/3D deliverables display from any modern browser with no plugins and no software licenses. AKTs operate fully offline and embed in IETMs, PDFs, and Service repositories on laptops, tablets, and any other device with a modern browser. The HTML5 can also be hosted on secure online environments. Rapid (85 percent, cost reduction >$560M, readiness improvements >20X and equally skilled technicians finishing same tasks in half time.
