CTMA Project #: 142235
Four approaches were investigated, including a hydrophilic electrocoat, hydrophilic topcoat, hydrophilic dipcoat, and thermally conductive topcoat. A prototype hydrophilic topcoat coating was developed, which showed excellent durability and application characteristics. In addition, a hydrophilic dipcoat was developed as a thin-film solution. Finally, a significant thermally conductive topcoat was achieved while maintaining hydrophilicity. These represent a path forward for developing coatings that can be applied to improve performance of HXs including water condensation.
