Data drives decisions that help organizations create and maintain a competitive edge. Unfortunately, advances in big data analytics can be impeded by disconnected data sources, disparate systems, aging infrastructure, and outdated technologies. Working through the CTMA Program, a government and industry team aimed to develop new data analytics solutions to evaluate maintenance and sustainment technology advances for NAVAIR.
- The initiative had two overall objectives: Demonstrate how expanded access and integration of a vast array of datasets can improve an organization’s maintenance and sustainment operations and explore a variety of novel technological solutions to ensure their approach to maintenance, sustainment, and readiness results in smarter, faster, better optimized, and better unified data to drive decisions.
- Five functional areas were targeted: workload planning, total asset visibility, supply chain management, sustainment of intellectual capital, and in-service logistics engineering.
- The team created a forecasting tool that encompasses a review of previous activity in relation to future requirements and a holistic view of anticipated activity and its impact of future requirements.
