The CTMA Program paves the way to successful technology transition, offering collaborative opportunities for customer-focused product development and new paths to broaden commercialization. NCMS recently established a more precise tracking system, called the Technology Transition Scale, to codify the extent of a technology’s transition into DoW maintenance and sustainment operations. This system involves five tiers that delineate how technologies mature before, during, and after completion of a CTMA project.
- The first tier is called the Pre-Transition Tier, which categorizes that the technology is to a state that supports future transition.
- Placement in Tiers 1-4 depends on the adoption of the technology across multiple operations activities and sites or services.
- A CTMA project on a maintenance digital logbook provides a case study for how the scale works, starting from developing a prototype.
