Systems Administrator

Location:

This is a hybrid role and requires 3 days in the office in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Job Purpose:

The Systems Administrator is responsible for managing and supporting the organization’s cloud-based infrastructure, user environments, and endpoint systems. This role ensures secure, reliable, and efficient operation of enterprise systems, with a focus on identity management, device administration, and end-user support.

The Systems Administrator partners closely with IT, security, and business teams to maintain system performance, enforce security best practices, and continuously improve the user experience across the organization.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Administer user identities, licenses, groups, and access policies using Microsoft Entra ID, including implementation and support of single sign-on (SSO) for cloud and SaaS applications using modern authentication protocols (SAML, OAuth, OpenID).
  • Manage device provisioning and configuration using Microsoft Intune and Windows Autopilot.
  • Maintain compliance with device security baselines using Conditional Access, configuration profiles, and endpoint protection tools.
  • Respond to and resolve escalated hardware, software, and system-related support requests.
  • Monitor system health and performance, proactively addressing issues that could impact uptime, security, or user access.
  • Ensure high availability and reliability of cloud services, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and other enterprise applications.
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation for IT systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve IT operations through scripting, automation, and system integration.
  • Collaborate with the security team to enforce best practices in identity management, access control, and data protection.
  • Partner with facilities and external vendors during office buildouts to plan and implement network connectivity, cabling, and technology infrastructure.
  • Ensure systems, endpoints, and configurations remain up to date with current best practices and software versions; evaluate new technologies to improve efficiency, security, and user experience.
  • Provide technical mentorship and knowledge sharing to IT support staff.
  • Deliver high-touch support to executive leadership.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must be a citizen of the United States.
  • Must have or be eligible to obtain a government security clearance.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless legally exempt.
  • Flexibility to work a hybrid schedule; three days in office & two days home.
  • 1–3 years of experience in systems administration or advanced desktop support.
  • Proficiency with Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365 administration.
  • Experience managing users and devices in Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft Intune.
  • Familiarity with endpoint security, patching, and compliance frameworks.
  • Knowledge of device deployment, user lifecycle management, and Microsoft 365 services.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot configuration, connectivity, and identity-related issues.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with hybrid Active Directory environments and/or PowerShell scripting is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Endpoint Analytics is a plus.
  • Relevant Microsoft certifications (e.g., Endpoint Administrator Associate, Identity and Access Administrator Associate, Azure Administrator Associate) are preferred.
