The project provided benefits by improving understanding of metal additive manufacturing processes that may support low-volume sustainment needs. The evaluation of multiple materials and fabrication methods helped identify conditions under which additive manufacturing can supplement traditional sourcing, reduce lead time dependencies, and improve flexibility for components that are difficult to obtain.
