NCMS Project #: 142344
Problem: In 2022, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) released a report stating that their assessment of most U.S military maintenance depot facilities and equipment was “fair-to-poor.” This included maintenance depots from the United States Army, Marine Corps, Navy, and Air Force. The need across the services to quickly test and demonstrate new capabilities to update their maintenance and sustainment abilities and processes is imperative to address these issues.
Benefit: The technologies tested and lessons learned during this initiative can be utilized by many industries including aerospace, automotive, and ship manufacturing and repair.
Solution/Approach: The overall objective of this initiative is to test and demonstrate three innovative technologies that will be improve the maintenance and sustainment environment of a manufacturing facility. Specific emphasis has been placed on demonstrating improved worker safety and training as well as reducing costly re-work and mistakes.
