CTMA Project #: 140835
Problem: The Composite Sustainment community of interest needs a detailed sustainment technology strategy and roadmap to ensure community-wide unity of effort and to best utilize commercial and government resources toward improving the efficiency and effectiveness of composite material maintenance and sustainment.
Benefit: The Composite Sustainment Technology roadmap will provide the public with a documented strategy to address the cost and effectiveness of composite material repair and sustainment. These materials are fast replacing traditional manufactured base materials and currently, their largest draw-back is manufacturing and sustainment cost. This roadmap will provide a strong basis for making the manufacturing and ownership costs more competitive with traditional materials.
Solution/Approach: Building on the successes of its annual Partners Meeting, NCMS is partnering with the DoD Composite community for the 2016 Composite Maintainers Technical Interchange Meeting (TIM) to exchange information on practices, experiences, and new developments relevant to a wide range of composite maintenance.
