NCMS Project #: 142258
Problem: The need exists for a DC/AC power converter that is two-man liftable and networkable. This dual use includes systems that can have value for the trucking industry as well as homeland defense/disaster recovery where quick restoration of electrical power is needed.
Benefit: The dual-use electrification systems will demonstrate a significant reduction in the deployment requirements of current standalone power generation systems and will highlight a significant savings in costs, manpower and maintenance activities.
Solution/Approach: This work will build upon the accomplishments of previous, related efforts, and will focus on demonstrating dual-use technology application on the Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement (MTVR) platform as a surrogate for other organizations facing similar challenges with power generation and distribution in remote locations.
Impact on Warfighter:
- Lower fuel usage
- Increase warfighter reliability
- Decrease maintenance and associated costs
- Reduce the logistical burden/footprint
