NCMS Project #: 142382

Problem: As the U.S. military moves towards its divestiture of its fleet of famed M1A1 Abrams tanks in FY2025, there are still many coalition partner countries operating M1A1 fleets that will require continued sustainment and an active supply chain of replacement parts for years to come.

Benefit: The processes explored during this initiative will serve as a roadmap for commercial organizations that have a need to divest assets, from manufacturing machinery to construction equipment, to vehicle fleets.

Solution/Approach: The primary objective of this project is to establish the framework of the Fair Share Sustainment Model for adoption by coalition partners, which will include policies, procedures, cost sharing provisions and other general membership recommendations, outlined in a Fair Share Sustainment Program Plan (FSSPP) and Integrated Logistics Support Plan (ILSP). Phase IV will build upon the lessons from the previous phases and develop new processes that will improve maintenance and sustainment activities across the full system product lifecycle performance for various vehicle fleets.
