Problem: NAVAIR has recognized that there is a gap in processes and resources to support current and future maintenance planning efforts with the appropriate level of workforce skillsets and common tools between government and industry.
Benefit: Once developed and adhered to, utilizing a predictive maintenance tactic, taught through classes and written material, would create a standardized playbook that all maintenance staff could use. When training can address maintenance in a predictive manner, systems for workplace safety are increased and a standard measurement can be aligned to ensure consistency. With consistency, can come a reliability that could influence prices, with the results of potentially lowering them for the consumer.
Solution/Approach: Maintenance and sustainment activities are a vital part to any organization’s health. By committing to ongoing training for the entry-level maintenance staff as well as those who would create a predictive and prescriptive maintenance plan, a considerable increase in productivity could be achieved. The intent of this project is to develop a solution for two major training initiatives applicable to military and supporting industry participants in support of a skilled public workforce:
- Develop and provide standardized training material to support pilot training workshops.
- Conduct Product Support Analysis (PSA) and Leve of Repair Analysis (LORA) pilot workshops based on the developed course supporting materials and evaluate their efficacy in developing future maintenance and sustainment planners.
