NCMS Project #: 142226
Problem: Global logistics challenges facing the airline, ships, and ground vehicles industries involve a complex operating environment with multiple suppliers and sub-tier suppliers, stovepipe supply chain management approaches, and varied configurations for their respective fleets. The effects of this can be seen in system/com¬ponent production delays, availability and distribution of spare parts, lead times for production, movement and transportation limitations, and increased costs across all multinational supply chains. As the United States (U.S.) supports the ongoing conflict in Eastern Europe, moving, equipping, supplying, and supporting forces with, and in, this multinational environment is difficult. Data interoperability is limited and challenging as nations and entities use dissimilar systems and processes in their supply chains.
Benefit: Be embracing a JEDI-X methodology that includes developing, testing, and evaluating synchronized data systems, the outcome of this project can offer a roadmap to efficiency, productivity, and cost savings to a myriad of U.S. companies, organizations, and their impact upon the global supply chain.
Solution/Approach: The primary objective of this initiative is to validate the application of a Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) logistical data exchange software capability that can be used when operating within a multinational environment. This software capability will leverage data across multinational systems and processes to address movement and transportation limitations, increase availability and distribution of spare parts, and reduce lead times for production and system/component production delays.
