Problem: New and emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), multifunction digital electronics, cyber, and advanced area denial-of-service systems are all contributing to an increasingly complex system for these electronic and software-based systems. For the DOD, the future threat landscape is becoming more agile and dangerous as our adversaries’ field new capabilities at an increased speed and complexity. If changes aren’t made in the near term, traditional document-centric acquisition processes may be unable to efficiently field solutions that can keep pace with these ever-changing future threats.

Benefit: Tasks will serve as an example to the commercial industry in how to develop a MBSE approach that will be applicable to the vertical and horizontal integration of technologies to meet vehicle system capability and maintenance and sustainment gaps, as well as industrial base and maintenance site operations.

Solution/Approach: Phase V will transition the final model and data to better align technology transition and integration resource investments to new projects that meet capability and maintenance gaps and manage risks. Special emphasis will be placed on developing customizable reports to better facilitate technology and maintenance planning activities, improving technology, integration, and sustainment readiness level maturation and risk management tools, and enabling better resource and program decisions across the combat vehicle portfolio by leveraging quantitative and qualitative metrics and dynamic dashboards, while also developing a user’s guide to assist with user training and implementation across multiple Army organizations.
