CTMA Project #: 140956

Problem: Commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) technology exists that can monitor the aircraft and proactively determine when maintenance needs to be performed on turbine engines prior to failure and convert unscheduled maintenance into scheduled maintenance.

Benefit: The project will utilize U.S. Navy data to demonstrate an industry solution that satisfies an important public need. The results are expected to be easily transferable to other military services and commercial industry, positively impacting the cost and delivery quality of air transportation services sold to the general public.

Solution/Approach: The intent of this project is to adapt and tailor existing Digital Twin technology to the specific needs of NAVAIR, and pilot a solution that integrates smart aircraft data with logistics data to proactively address equipment performance degradation and optimize at-aircraft maintenance or sustainment business operations to reduce asset down time and improve asset readiness.
