NCMS Project #: 142352
Problem: Legacy transparent lamination construction and integration methods can be costly and time consuming. Such laminates have a limited-service life due to environmental degradation
Benefit: The novel technologies developed in this effort can reduce upfront tooling costs, reduce production costs and time while increasing production throughput, and increase the service life of transparency technologies by improving environmental performance.
Solution/Approach: The goal of this effort is to test and develop a better process for producing and maintaining transparent laminates using novel technologies to improve safety and reduce production and maintenance costs and turnaround time. A parallel-phased technology development approach is recommended for investigating and maturing both the UVcured optically clear potting adhesive and an integral potting process with Out-of-Autoclave (OoA) manufacture.
