NCMS Project #: 142289
Problem: The deficiencies of supply chains within the United States (U.S.) and throughout the world are constantly in the public eye and threaten the viability of many diverse industries. Recognizing these deficiencies allows for opportunities to improve logistics efficiencies. Today more than ever, achieving both cost and performance attribute studies of supply chain solutions are as challenging as it is critical. The amount of maintaining data is a complex ecosystem that impacts a company’s ability to achieve high customer satisfaction scores and optimize profitability.
Benefit: The project will benefit the commercial industry by demonstrating how having effective and sustainable processes in place can help companies mitigate risks and reduce the time and money lost when product defects or uncontrollable events impact delivery schedules.
Solution/Approach: The overall objective of this initiative is to identify data sectors to lower supply chain costs, while simultaneously developing capabilities and processes for improving performance metric data for supply chain products. This begins with proper assessment of current costs and performance of product lines currently supported with or planned for traditional/transactional supply chain management and prioritizing product line opportunities, beginning with Fleet-Forces most challenging deficiencies and/or risks.
