The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on a multiphase CTMA initiative to assess the current ship repair acquisition strategy as well as the performance and capacity of the industrial base. An assessment of the industrial base by region, capacity, market trends, drivers of investment, and other factors is required to set the foundation for refinement and improvement of the surface ship repair acquisition strategy and to incentivize the industrial base to satisfy current and future capabilities.
Phase II will further develop and expand the analytical tools and models from the first phase, and work to:
- Further refine and update modelling of the ship repair industrial base and acquisition strategy.
- Evaluate acquisition strategy initiatives against their potential impact on ship repair providers for each port.
- Assess potential enhancements to the overall ship repair and modernization acquisition strategy at a port level.
