The U.S. Army is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to advance the current state of additive manufacturing technologies, and give both commercial and governmental organizations better materials, processes and systems to produce 3D printed parts. The goal is to fulfill the demand for parts durability and reduced maintenance requirements at a level that meets or exceeds traditionally manufactured items. This initiative aims to demonstrate the increased potential for more parts to be converted to AM composite based materials, with lower overall parts costs and greater corrosion resistance.
