The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to advance the state of the art in advanced Metrology and Calibration (METCAL) technologies and processes to optimize complex non-commercial solutions to meet new weapons system/platform availability requirements.  This effort will develop and demonstrate solutions to calibrate, sustain and ensure performance accuracy of test instruments (TIs) and test and monitoring systems(TAMs) needed to maintain weapon systems and transition calibration hardware standards where commercially obtainable test equipment is not available.

Specific objectives include:

Investigate novel approaches to modernize current and legacy METCAL systems including those no longer commercially supportable
Provide a common set of systems, processes, and tools to deliver more reliable TIs and TAMs that are clean and accurate and are compliant to regulatory standards
