The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to introduce advanced technologies into rotorcraft maintenance and sustainment that will improve the efficiency of rotorcraft repair. The overall objective is to establish the specific needs to improve immediate sustainment operations and shape the design of future maintenance infrastructure.

Specific objectives include:

  • test and demonstrate innovative technologies including modern equipment for helicopter engine component machining, finishing, assembly, and modification
  • test and demonstrate alternate facility designs that enable artisans to work more safely and efficiently
