The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to make aircraft landings on aircraft carriers safer and more reliable. The main objective is to upgrade specific aircraft with Automatic Carrier Landing Systems (ACLS) technology that enables pilots receive clearer, more precise landing guidance directly from the ship.

Specific objectives include:
• Validation: reconcile the written engineering instructions with step for actual implementation on the aircraft
• Verification: verify that all required changes are captured accurately
• Implementation: complete the installation on selected aircraft
