The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on a multiphase CTMA initiative to advance the state of the art in automated product systems development, logistics, and sustainment tools and processes and demonstrate an integrated ecosystem that can better design, prototype, qualify, produce, maintain, and sustain manned and unmanned ground systems. This ecosystem must:
- Enable the rapid employment of engineering capabilities to design, modify, and integrate new or legacy systems and subsystems
- Improve the identification of part and supplier risks, and resolve critical and safety-related part issues
- Reduce the time and cost to deliver systems and components that are reliable, cost effective, and available to meet performance, maintenance, and sustainment requirements
Phase V will build upon previous efforts and analyze recently failed components identified during major training and operational exercises. The project team will evaluate and determine options to fulfill critical repair part shortfalls impacting readiness and safety. In addition, new processes to assess and analyze fuel tank links will be demonstrated.
The solution to be demonstrated will leverage three military ground systems programs at various stages of the lifecycle as surrogates to prove out the flexibility and effectiveness of employing these automated and integrated tools, processes and systems. The desired outcome is to provide proven and formalized processes and toolsets to deliver, maintain, and sustain products in a manner that increases system reliability, availability, and maintainability throughout various product lifecycles using organic and industry stakeholders.
