The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on a multiphase CTMA initiative to develop a semi-autonomous heterogenous robotics platform to accelerate the repair of large castings and forgings. This robotic solution will utilize increasing levels of autonomy to augment and enhance DIB workforce productivity by more rapidly performing repair operations. The overall goal is to enable semi-autonomous repairs of large castings and forgings via robotic systems in non-austere industrial environments, such as foundries and shipyards.
