The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to advance the state of additive manufacturing (AM) capabilities and program response to provide a more agile and flexible manufacturing solution for composite parts to eliminates long lead times for various identified parts.
Specific objectives include:
- Increased speed of composite based AM printing capabilities
- Improved post processing time that supports quick prototyping and part manufacturing
The industry team will be expected to provide subject matter experts in composite based AM, software, equipment, training, risk management framework, industry best practices and processes, system testing, and software/hardware integration techniques.
