The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to improve organizational effectiveness in identifying, maturing and implementing cross-cutting CPC technologies to reduce the negative impacts of corrosion. The overall goal is to develop best practice technical and business process solutions to effectively deliver CPC technologies that will reduce corrosion and its harmful effects.
The team selected for this initiative will be expected to develop processes adaptable to any public or private entity seeking to improve sustainment of its assets and reduce the negative impacts of corrosion. This includes procedures and guidance for elements such as the following:
- Establishing networks of organizational and individual stakeholders with responsibilities for developing and implementing CPC technologies
- Preparing and evaluating CPC technology development proposals to include requirements, objectives, technical approach, milestones and funding requests
- Planning and conducting regular in-process reviews to ensure cost, schedule and performance goals are met, and identifying solutions to mitigate any issues that arise
- Creating transition plans to mature CPC technologies from the early stages of S&T all the way through eventual implementation to end users
