The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to develop a repeatable, technology-enabled process for reproducing essential parts for legacy systems with incomplete, outdated, or missing technical documentation. The effort will use reverse engineering processes that integrate high-resolution 3D scanning, CAD reconstruction, engineering analysis, and validated manufacturing workflows to generate full Technical Data Packages (TDPs).
Specific objectives include:
- Advance reverse engineering capabilities to build complete technical data packages for parts manufacturing.
- Transition technology readiness to enable users to quickly reproduce parts using digital and physical workflows.
- Establish scalable workflows applicable to both legacy systems and cutting-edge manufacturing processes.
- Reduce dependence on suppliers for critical parts.
If you feel your organization has the technical capabilities and would like to be considered for this project, please complete the form below and upload your organization’s technical capabilities statement.
Interested Submissions Due by 1/5/26.
We encourage participation of Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs), including Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs) and Women’s Business Enterprises (WBEs).
