The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to develop, enhance, evaluate and demonstrate a wide variety of decision-making tools and innovative maintenance and sustainment technologies including an examination and testing of modular and integrated solutions for maintenance and sustainment activities that will contribute to optimized maintenance, repair and overhaul processes.
Some specific goals will include:
- Improved maintenance and sustainment effectiveness by providing the ability to perform “what-if” analysis, identify global capability and capacity constraints, workforce and material impacts on production, and resource availability across global maintenance activities
- Increased visibility of asset location/condition across the US and the Regional Sustainment Framework
- Opportunities for increased throughput, decreased inventory, operating expenses
- Rapid identification of production and sustainment inefficiencies
- Increased collaboration across the global maintenance and supply chain
