The US Department of Defense is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to identify and demonstrate variants of expeditionary maintenance and repair facilities (EMRF) that are effective in providing a low risk and cost-effective path to the advancement and demonstration of manufacturing support technology. The overall goal is to develop an EMRF family of maintenance and repair systems, which can be integrated into easily transportable ISO shipping containers, to provide the means for commercial and military manufacturers and maintainers to realize onsite and on-demand rapid recovery from machinery related maintenance and failure disruptions.

Specific objectives include:

  • Define all EMRF variants for specific use cases
  • Create a 3D and 2D CAD technical data package for each EMRF variant
  • Conduct functional testing of each EMRF variant
  • Build and test each EMRF variant
