The US Army is partnering with industry and academia on an initiative to enhance the charging speed of a lithium-ion battery while improving its safety to improve maintenance and sustainment for fleets utilizing battery technologies. This project will focus on evaluating silicon anode binder formulations, current collector pretreatments, and coating technologies to improve the overall electrochemical performance of full cell devices, including capacity retention at high charge rates.
